My drive is not recognising any blank cd/dvd when i put in computer. Can anyone figure this one out? I don't play CDs, unless installing software, so I don't think I spotted the problem when trying to play a CD. New 500GB = £75. this contact form
Check the disc to see if it has a label or other material stuck to the disc that increases the thickness. In fact, I never Verify permissions. In most cases, your DVD player is not working because your DVD discs are in unsupported DVD formats. Open same up.At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.This will bring up the Help Menu.===============Try a different brand. I have the exact same problem on my MacBook...did the lens cleaner work, or do I have to get an external or something?

the Apple Help for Disk Utility does not suggest that you repair permissions twice, but I always do this.

Had looked around for a solution everywhere, but to no avail. weblink I called the company and they just said that I'd probably have to get a new one. The Repair Disk Permissions process is performed. I also fitted a new drive into my friend's MacBook, which took a lot longer and was a little more precarious, but job's done nonetheless. Last time I used by disc drive was two days ago & it was working fine. Optical drives fail, and fail often. Couldn't remove the DVD/CD drive as there was a very small junction lead coming from it attached to the motherboard. I have the exact same problem. It worked. They sell cans of air Maplins electrical shop don't they? and then press return Allow the computer to run though the checks.
I hope someone can chime in and continue to point you in the right direction.
