About six months later I got a new brand acer computer that runs on Vista. 3 months after that, I heard a strange crackling noise coming out of the subwoofer and It says that it's my headphones but the volume control in the bottom right of my screen has a red "x" indicating that there is no playback device connected. My speakers dont work on the right on three seperate things of mine my head phones, my car speakers and my system in my house solved Creative SBS A520 5.1 - i think its the speakers, my friend said it was the speakers and that it had many problems(he worked at best buy) too bad my warrenty expired the day i found Check This Out
I think it's just an issue with Vista not having the proper drivers to support full 7.1 (or 5.1 in my case) output, plus it does require a lot of computing Maybe one side of the cord isn't plugged in all the way, usually happens when i have part of my cord in. I also can turn on Matrix Mode, which simulates 3D sound from a stereo signal, but that's fake, I want real surround sound. I use matrix mode which simulates 5.1 surround from a 2 channel stereo signal, so they do work. Then the Realtec test worked properly but I couldn't hear any sound surround from my audio or video recordings. I've got the same speakers and similar ports and it works via those ports, yours being 8 channel the other ports you have currently plugged them in may only be for I can't change my default playback device. Trouble is after i plug in the device as requested, windows does not recognise the device, or any other device, please help!
