Never shut down/restart my mbp if not really necessary. PeruvianChica Brand new issue, audio works fine until I plug in my MagicJack. Clicking the volume keys or the mute button did nothing, no sound, and basically the onscreen display showed a symbol that indicated there was no device for the sound output anyway. Would you like to answer one of these unanswered questions instead?

Keep holding the keys until you hear a second start up sound, then release the keys and let your mac finish its start up. I've read that sometimes you need to press the Fn key along with the volume/brightness keys or adjust the settings in System Preferences. Sound works again. Any advice? With nothing in the port, the switch should go back to the default analog state.
